Viceroy is set to introduce The Harriman, a luxury resort and residence offering in Sun Valley, Idaho, US, with an opening date slated for June 2026.

Located in downtown Ketchum, the property is to mark Sun Valley’s inaugural luxury hotel and for-sale residence option.

Harriman Ketchum Hotel managing member Jack Bariteau said: “The Harriman has been a vision of mine for several decades, and bringing it to life with Viceroy is an incredible milestone.

“Sun Valley has long deserved a destination that reflects its authentic heritage and natural beauty, and Viceroy’s involvement ensures this will be delivered at the highest level.”

The Harriman pays homage to W Averill Harriman, the Union Pacific Railroad chairman who played a role in establishing the Sun Valley Resort in 1936.

His vision was to create a European-style winter sports destination easily accessible by the national rail network.

Viceroy development president Mark Keiser said: “Sun Valley is synonymous with American alpine heritage, and we are honoured to celebrate that legacy through the Viceroy lens.

“This project exemplifies modern luxury defined by deep connection to place, thoughtful design, and immersive experiences.”

The design team, comprising John Davis of Hornberger+Worstell, Fatima Silva of FDG Design Group, and Mark de Reus and Chris Strahle of de Reus Architects, has crafted a property that resonates with the Wood River Valley's regional experience.

This resort will feature 73 guest rooms and 12 single-level penthouse residences, all offering views of the Rocky Mountains.

The Harriman's amenities are set to include a spa spanning over 5,070ft², a fitness centre measuring 1,130ft², six treatment rooms, and various thermal facilities.

The hotel aims to become a social hub, offering a mountain-modern food and beverage programme with a restaurant, bar, café, and ski concierge. It will also provide 3,275ft² of event space.

The Harriman is a testament to Viceroy's growth strategy, complementing its recent expansion in Portugal's Algarve region.

In November 2024, Viceroy initiated a rebranding of its global properties, signifying a new era in the luxury travel segment.
