US-based hospitality development company White Lodging has acquired the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, a 353-room property near the Raleigh Convention Center, North Carolina, US.

The company will also assume management of the hotel.

Plans include converting the hotel from a Sheraton to a Westin, with significant renovations to guest rooms, public spaces, meeting areas and food and beverage facilities.

White Lodging is currently preparing design and construction plans for these changes and expects to begin renovation work in early 2027. This marks White Lodging’s first acquisition in Raleigh.

White Lodging vice-chair and chief investment officer Conner White said: “This investment strongly supports White Lodging’s growth strategy, which spans premium urban ground-up development, strategic acquisitions like this one, and select third-party management agreements.”

White Lodging president and CEO Jean-Luc Barone said: “This hotel provides an exciting opportunity to enhance the quality of the hotel with an expanded convention centre in the works and growing leisure demand.”

In North Carolina, the company already owns, developed, and operates the JW Marriott Charlotte.

The company also intends to open its newest property, Hotel Trinity Austin, Autograph Collection, in Texas later this year.

In January, White Lodging announced the appointment of Ebrahim Ansari as general manager of Hotel Trinity Austin, Autograph Collection, which is currently under development.

Founded in 1985, White Lodging develops, owns and operates hotels and restaurants in several major cities, including Austin, Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Louisville and Nashville.

The company’s portfolio includes around 60 hotels, a group of luxury ranches, 50 independently branded restaurants and ten rooftop bars.
