ME Barcelona is a five-star business hotel located in the centre of Barcelona, Spain. Situated between the Glories Plaza and the Forum area at the 22nd district on Diagonal Avenue at Pere IV, the hotel is built in 25 storeys at a height of 120m. It was developed by Sol Melia and was launched in 2006 along with Hotel ME Madrid Reina Victoria.

The ME Barcelona hotel has 258 rooms. It is the fourth hotel of the Melia Brand and was ranked among the top 25 business hotels by CNBC business in 2009.

Design

The hotel is 120m-high with a staircase-like architecture. Designed by Dominique Perrault, one of the most famous architects in the region, the hotel’s exterior adapts to the movement and the light of Barcelona. Throughout the day, the changes of the city are reflected in the hotel’s exterior. Instead of massive edifices common in many skyscrapers, the hotel is composed of delicate and clean lines.

Accommodation

The hotel has 258 rooms, including 192 supreme rooms, 44 The Level rooms, 16 suites, six grand suites and one sky suite. Categorised as Supreme Rooms City View and Supreme Rooms Sea View, the supreme rooms are housed between the seventh and the 20th floors of the hotel. While the Supreme Rooms City View offers views of the Sagrada Familia and the Agbar Tower, the Supreme Rooms Sea View offer guests views of the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Barcelona.

The Level, located between the 20th and the 28th floor, is offered in four different arrangements. The Level Room City View and The Level Room Sea View provide views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea respectively.

The hotel also offers seven suites in The Level category. The urban suite located between the 20th and the 24th floor extends 50m2 and provides a view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Loft suites are distinct with a separate large lounge area. ME Barcelona also has one sky suite that stretches over the entire 29th floor of the hotel.

In-room amenities

All rooms in ME Barcelona are soundproof. Each room is provided with a 32in plasma TV, complimentary internet access, a writing desk, a Tango X2 audio system for iPod, a magnetic key card and an iron with an ironing board. Telephone access is provided in three places – in the bathroom, on the desk and on the bedside table. At an additional charge, rooms are also equipped with a minibar. Bathrooms are complete with a shower or bathtub, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, complimentary hair and skincare products and a bathrobe.

Exclusive and personalised facilities are provided to guests in The Level rooms, including an exclusive club lounge on the 25th floor. They are also offered early check-in and late check-out, healthy food throughout the day, a Wi-Fi and Playstation-equipped playroom, welcome gift and daily newspaper. On the day of arrival and during the stay, the hotel offers its guests free ironing of three garments and one garment respectively.

Dining facilities

The hotel has two restaurants and two bars for its guests. The Sky Food Bar Restaurant & Lounge is a restaurant/bar located on the ground floor of the hotel. On the 24th floor, the hotel offers an exclusive restaurant named Dos Cielos.

The hotel also has a cocktail bar on the sixth floor. Named the Angels & Kings Club, this bar has a stage and large terrace complete with a swimming pool.

Meeting facilities and spa

For business meetings and conferences, the hotel has devoted 12,750m² of space. With the capacity to accommodate up to 500 people, the meeting facilities at the hotel include seven studios, three sky ballrooms and one evolution room. All the meeting rooms are equipped with the latest technology, including sophisticated audiovisual equipment.

The hotel also has one spa. Named YHI, the spa is the wellness brand, belonging to Sol Melia. A variety of Mayan and Aztec ritual treatments are offered at the spa.
