Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 31% share of the global travel and tourism industry’s artificial intelligence-related total new job postings in Q1 2023, down 16% over the prior quarter.
Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive artificial intelligence-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 31%, emerged as the top artificial intelligence-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings drop by 16% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q1 2023, with new job postings dropping by 2% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent artificial intelligence roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 3% share in Q1 2023, Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations with a 2% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 35% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Uber Technologies, Walt Disney, eDreams ODIGEO, and Deutsche Lufthansa. Together they accounted for a combined share of 35% of all artificial intelligence-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts posted 156 artificial intelligence-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Uber Technologies 112 jobs, Walt Disney 100 jobs, eDreams ODIGEO 60 jobs, and Deutsche Lufthansa 58 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 36.77% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023
The largest share of artificial intelligence-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 36.77% followed by Germany (10.61%) and India (6.16%). The share represented by the US was nine percentage points lower than the 45.78% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
