Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations, with a share of 14%, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the global travel and tourism industry in Q3 2023, ahead of Management Occupations with a 12% share of job postings.

The other prominent roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Personal Care and Service Occupations with a 19% share and Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 44% of hiring activity

The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 44% share of the overall hiring activity in the global travel and tourism industry in Q3 2023.

Hilton Worldwide posted 14,072 jobs in Q3 2023 and registered a drop of 2% over the previous quarter, followed by Marriott International with 12,885 jobs and a 63% decline. Deutsche Bahn with 11,915 jobs and Accor with 10,575 jobs, recorded a 273% growth and an 81% rise, respectively, while Enterprise recorded a 32% rise with 3,510 job postings during Q3 2023.

Hiring activity was driven by North America with a 51% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

North America held the leading share of the new job postings in the global travel and tourism industry with a 51% share, a 2% lower over Q2 2023. Europe stood next with 24%, registering an 11% growth over the previous quarter.

Asia-Pacific with an 18% share marked a 33% drop over Q2 2023. The Middle East & Africa and South & Central America accounted for shares of 0.29% and 36% respectively.
