This compares to a 55% increase versus Q3 2021.

Notably, Heavy Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Service Technicians and Mechanics jobs accounted for a 24% share of the global travel and tourism industry’s internet of things-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 47% over the prior quarter.

Heavy Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Service Technicians and Mechanics, with a share of 24%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 47% quarter-on-quarter. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 7% in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 25% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent internet of things roles include Transportation Service Attendants with a 7% share in Q3 2022, Production, Planning, and Expediting Clerks with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 115% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Avis Budget Group, Vivint Smart Home Arena, A.P. Moller - Maersk and Enterprise Holdings. Together they accounted for a combined share of 115% of all internet of things-related active jobs in the travel and tourism industry.

Avis Budget Group posted 499 internet of things-related new jobs in Q3 2022, Vivint Smart Home Arena 392 jobs, A.P. Moller - Maersk 84 jobs, and Enterprise Holdings 61 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 56% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 56% followed by Australia (17%) and New Zealand (6%). The share represented by the US was 17 percentage points lower than the 73% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
