Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 24% share of the global travel and tourism industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q2 2023, down 35% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 24%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 35% quarter-on-quarter. Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 43% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 5% share in Q2 2023, Sales and Related Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 55% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Hertz Global, Accor, and Shangri-La Asia. Together they accounted for a combined share of 55% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.

Marriott International posted 5,505 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Hilton Worldwide 1,439 jobs, Hertz Global 1,186 jobs, Accor 1,005 jobs, and Shangri-La Asia 676 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 46.04% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 46.04% followed by China (7.68%) and the UK (6.68%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 41.61% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
