Management Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 25%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 67% quarter-on-quarter. Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations came in second with a share of 18% in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 33% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social responsibility roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 5% share in Q1 2023, Production Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 58% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Accor, Shangri-La Asia, and Hyatt Hotels. Together they accounted for a combined share of 58% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the travel and tourism industry.

Marriott International posted 9,030 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Hilton Worldwide 2,075 jobs, Accor 1,763 jobs, Shangri-La Asia 1,526 jobs, and Hyatt Hotels 845 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 41.37% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023

The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 41.37% followed by China (8.28%) and Canada (6.13%). The share represented by the US was eight percentage points lower than the 49.31% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
