The US travel & tourism industry registered a 0.9% decline in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.15% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.78% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.63% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US travel & tourism industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60.96% in July 2021, a 36.57% drop over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 10.89% share, an increase of 2.44% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 9.6%, registering a 51.95% decline from June 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.65%, down 16.9% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the US IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 8.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US travel & tourism industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Walt Disney posted 136 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 4.62% over the previous month, followed by Uber Technologies with 71 jobs and a 14.46% drop. Expedia Group with 54 IT jobs and Delta Air Lines with 42 jobs, recorded a 45.95% growth and a 61.54% increase, respectively, while Hawaiian Holdings recorded a 5.88% decline with 32 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.98%, down by 34.84% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.33% share, a decline of 23.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.3% share, down 0.84% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.39%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
