
The US’s travel & tourism industry registered a 15.4% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.22% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.19% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.47% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 53.04% in August 2021, registering a 24.47% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.6% share, an increase of 136.36% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.88%, registering a 46.46% rise from July 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 10.35%, up 206.67% over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 62.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
BCD Travel Services posted 249 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 4050% over the previous month, followed by XPO Logistics with 99 jobs and an 8.79% growth. Walt Disney with 97 IT jobs and Delta Air Lines with 75 jobs, recorded a 34.46% decline and a 74.42% flat growth, respectively, while Uber Technologies recorded a decline of 6.85% with 68 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.24%, up by 56.28% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 21.46% share, registered an increase of 22.22% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12% share, up 15.94% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.3%, recording a month-on-month increase of 33.33%.
