Asia-Pacific witnessed a 6.0% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

January 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.25% in the overall hiring activity when compared with December 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.37% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in January 2022, registering an increase of 0.67% over the last three-month average share.

 

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in January 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 72.4% in January 2022, a 14.96% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 9.26% in January 2022, marking a 1.82% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.93% in January 2022, a 35% rise from December 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.79% in January 2022, a 3.33% decline over the previous month.

 

Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during January 2022 over previous month.

The Walt Disney posted 101 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered an increase of 188.57% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 69 jobs and a 65.15% drop. Genting with 43 IT jobs and Expedia Group with 41 jobs, recorded a 138.89% rise and a 6.82% drop, respectively, while AirAsia Group recorded a 207.69% increase with 40 job postings during January 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 40.66% share in January 2022, a 19.61% decrease over December 2022. Malaysia featured next with a 15.04% share, up 160% over the previous month. China recorded a 10.41% share, a growth of 10.53% compared with December 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.98%, up by 30.48% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.49% share, registered a decline of 29.73% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.88% share, up 76.47% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.66%, recording a month-on-month decline of 20%.
