Asia-Pacific witnessed an 8.4% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
February 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.73% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.3% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 1.21% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 68.14% in February 2022, an 11.05% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 12.71% in February 2022, marking a 53.06% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.64% in February 2022, a 4.08% rise from January 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.76% in February 2022, a 6.25% rise over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 91.67% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry during February 2022 over previous month.
The Walt Disney posted 169 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 113.92% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 63 jobs and an 8.62% growth. Booking Holdings with 52 IT jobs and Expedia Group with 39 jobs, recorded a 136.36% rise and a 143.75% rise, respectively, while Uber Technologies recorded a 340% increase with 22 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s travel & tourism industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 47.8% share in February 2022, a 66.86% increase over January 2022. China featured next with a 14.92% share, up 49.15% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 8.47% share, a growth of 8.7% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.64%, up by 28.57% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.17% share, registered a growth of 0.85% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.02% share, down 19.75% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.17%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
