Australia’s travel & tourism industry IT recruitment activity rises 2.1% in June 2022

Australia’s travel & tourism industry registered a 2.1% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.71% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.48% share in June 2022, recording an increase of 0.46% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.11% in June 2022, registering a 12.5% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 26.67% share, an increase of 20% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 24.44%, registering an 83.33% rise from May 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 11.11%, down 37.5% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 9.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s travel & tourism industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Virgin Australia Holdings posted 12 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Qantas Airways with 9 jobs and a 200% growth. Flight Centre Travel Group with 9 IT jobs and Lindsay Australia with 2 jobs, recorded a 25% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Queensland Rail recorded a decline of 50% with 2 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.56%, down by 5.56% from May 2022. Entry Level positions with a 20% share, registered an increase of 28.57% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 4.44% share, down 33.33% over May 2022.
