Canada’s travel & tourism industry registered a 6.2% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.99% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.98% share in November 2022, recording an increase of 0.39% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.47% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry in November 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 75.57% in November 2022, registering a 13.79% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 9.92% share, a decrease of 63.89% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.4%, registering a 120% rise from October 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 3.05%, down 55.56% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 219.44% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Columbia Hospitality posted 44 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Meyer Jabara Hotels with 44 jobs and a flat growth. Bally’s with 14 IT jobs and Canadian National Railway with 7 jobs, recorded a 17.65% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Booking Holdings recorded a decline of 50% with 6 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.62%, down by 43.48% from October 2022. Entry Level positions with a 27.48% share, registered an increase of 620% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 22.9% share, up 76.47% over October 2022.
