India’s travel & tourism industry registered a 0.3% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.53% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.96% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 56.25% in October 2022, registering a 40.4% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 19.38% share, a decrease of 16.22% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.38%, registering a flat growth from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.13%, down 13.33% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 21.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 55 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 32.1% over the previous month, followed by Walt Disney with 28 jobs and a 37.78% drop. Grupo Posadas SAB de CV with 16 IT jobs and Uber Technologies with 14 jobs, recorded a 300% growth and a 6.67% decrease, respectively, while Expedia Group recorded a decline of 13.33% with 13 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55%, down by 40.94% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.13% share, registered a decline of 18.18% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.63% share, down 3.85% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.25%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
