September 2021 has seen an increase of 1.9% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.41% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 63.39% in September 2021, a 24.87% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 10.37% in September 2021, marking a 26.76% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.9% in September 2021, a 16.77% drop from August 2021.

Top five travel & tourism companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 43.87% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Expedia Group posted 284 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Walt Disney with 116 jobs and an 11.54% growth. MGM Resorts International with 105 IT jobs and Delta Air Lines with 96 jobs, recorded a 101.92% rise and a 29.73% rise, respectively, while BCD Travel Services recorded a 63.75% decline with 91 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 92.56% share in September 2021, a 6.99% increase over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 6.98% share, up 19.32% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.47% share, a growth of 133.33% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.54%, down by 4.34% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.11% share, registered a growth of 32.77% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.68% share, up 30% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.66%, recording a month-on-month growth of 66.67%.
