The UK’s travel & tourism industry registered an 11.1% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 14.86% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.09% share in October 2022, recording an increase of 0.56% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.17% in October 2022, registering a 31.15% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 20.5% share, an increase of 6.45% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 9.94%, registering a 40.74% decline from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.7%, down 6.67% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 28.99% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 36 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 80% over the previous month, followed by Bally’s with 26 jobs and a 58.73% drop. Greene King with 20 IT jobs and Deutsche Bahn with 8 jobs, recorded a 16.67% decline and a 100% growth, respectively, while Expedia Group recorded a decline of 70.37% with 8 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.4%, down by 20.65% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12.42% share, registered a decline of 31.03% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.56% share, down 15% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.62%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
