The US’s travel & tourism industry registered a 0.5% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.03% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.63% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.31% in August 2022, registering a 3.02% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 28.94% share, an increase of 8.79% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.93%, registering a 14.44% rise from July 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.06%, down 5.1% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 6.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

The Walt Disney posted 273 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 19.71% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 71 jobs and a 29% drop. Marriott International with 69 IT jobs and Enterprise Holdings with 68 jobs, recorded a 13.11% growth and an 183.33% growth, respectively, while Delta Air Lines recorded an increase of 21.43% with 51 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.01%, down by 2.9% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.6% share, registered an increase of 18.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.31% share, down 3.4% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.09%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
