The US’s travel & tourism industry registered a 6.4% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.89% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.1% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in the US’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.43% in January 2022, registering an 18.99% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 10.8% share, an increase of 15.83% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 10.72%, registering a 91.67% rise from December 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.63%, up 37.78% over the previous month.

 

Top five travel & tourism companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 39.21% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s travel & tourism industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

The Walt Disney posted 203 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 6.84% over the previous month, followed by Expedia Group with 117 jobs and a 101.72% growth. J.B. Hunt Transport Services with 102 IT jobs and United Parcel Service with 94 jobs, recorded a 56.92% growth and a 77.36% growth, respectively, while American Airlines Group recorded an increase of 21.62% with 45 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.91%, up by 37.92% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.92% share, registered an increase of 5.73% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.55% share, up 29.88% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.62%, recording a month-on-month increase of 33.33%.
