Verdict predicts top five fastest growing tourist destinations in Africa in 2022 based on estimates from GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database.

1. Morocco: Year-on-year growth (634.1%)

A year-on-year growth of 634.1% in international arrivals in 2022 is expected to make Morocco the fastest growing destination in Africa, forecasts GlobalData. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, France, Spain and Germany are expected to be the largest source markets for Morocco in 2022.

2. Lesotho: Year-on-year growth (617.3%)

According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, Lesotho will be the second fastest growing destination in Africa, recording a year-on-year growth of 617.3% in international arrivals. GlobalData predicts that South Africa, China and Canada will be the largest source markets for Lesotho in 2022.

3. Mauritius: Year-on-year growth (616.9%)

GlobalData forecasts that Mauritius will see a year-on-year growth of 616.9% in international arrivals in 2022, making it the third fastest growing destination in Africa. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, France, Germany and India are forecast to be the largest source markets in 2022.

4. Eswatini: Year-on-year growth (330.8%)

International arrivals to Eswatini are expected to grow by 330.8% year-on-year in 2022, making it the fourth fastest growing destination in Africa, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database. GlobalData, further, predicts that South Africa, Mozambique and Canada will be the largest source markets for Eswatini in 2022.

5. Zimbabwe: Year-on-year growth (292.8%)

GlobalData forecasts that Zimbabwe will be the fifth fastest growing destination in Africa with international arrivals projected to grow at 292.8% year-on-year in 2022. According to GlobalData’s traveler demands & flows database, South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia are forecast to be the largest source markets for Zimbabwe in 2022.
