Accor has unveiled plans for a new boutique hotel and residences in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Alesayi Holding.

The development, named Abraj Omar Hotel & Residences Makkah – MGallery Collection, is scheduled to open in 2028, reported Zawya.

It aims to serve pilgrims and travellers with a thematic experience inspired by Islamic history.

The property will cover an area of 2,600m² and feature 276 hotel rooms and 214 branded residences available for purchase.

The Makkah boutique hotel development will also offer a range of amenities, including a business centre, a fitness room and spa, multiple dining options, and a children’s playground.

This upcoming hotel will be part of the MGallery Collection brand, which is known for its luxury boutique hotels.

Since its inception in 2008, the brand is noted to have grown to more than 120 hotels globally and is on track to expand its network by 30% by 2030.

There are currently 47 MGallery hotels under development worldwide, including three additional projects in Saudi Arabia.

Accor Luxury Development regional vice president Jean-Baptiste Recher said: “We are proud to announce the signing of this unique project in collaboration with our longstanding partner, Alesayi Group.

“The hotel and residences will serve as an iconic addition to the MGallery Collection brand’s presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, characterised by purposeful architecture and intricate local storytelling through every touchpoint. Our expanding footprint in key cities across the Kingdom continues to grow in line with Vision 2030, with many more of our collection brands set to open in the next five years.”

Alesayi Holding Group’s portfolio already includes three Accor hotels, namely Adagio Jeddah City Centre, ibis Jeddah City Centre, and ibis Styles Makkah.

It also has plans to further develop the ibis and Adagio brands within Saudi Arabia as part of a master development agreement.

Earlier this month, Accor outlined the steps it takes to ensure that sustainability is key to the corporate meetings and events held at its properties.

In an Accor survey of corporate clients, 54% of the respondents ranked carbon emissions as their top corporate social responsibility priority.
