Home2 Suites by Hilton Wasilla will comprise 107 suites designed for both short-term and extended stays.
The four-storey all-suites hotel will provide facilities including an indoor pool, spa, fitness centre, guest laundry, and 936ft² of meeting space for gatherings of up to 47 people.
Each suite will feature a full kitchen and 55in Smart TV. Additional amenities include an innovative lobby, outdoor patios, and communal spaces.
The hotel will also offer a complimentary hot breakfast and access to firepits and BBQs for guests.
Affinity Hospitality’s project is financed through a partnership between Northrim Bank and Nuveen Green Capital (NGC), utilising a $30m funding package.
Of this, $11m comes from the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy and Resilience (C-PACER) programme, overseen locally by the Matanuska-Susitna (MatSu) Borough.
The C-PACER financing will be allocated toward features aimed at boosting the property’s energy efficiency, water conservation, and seismic resilience in response to the frequency of earthquakes in Alaska.
Affinity Hospitality principal Ric Marko said: “We are excited to be under construction and look forward to introducing Home2 Suites’ innovative approach to travellers and the MatSu Valley community.”
This hotel becomes Affinity Hospitality’s second Home2 Suites-branded property in the state and the company’s second hotel in Wasilla.
Upon opening, it will provide accommodation options geared towards both business and leisure travellers, with access to nearby businesses and attractions for guests and the wider MatSu community.
City of Wasilla mayor Glenda Ledford said: “We are very excited to welcome the Home2 Suites to Wasilla, the fastest growing city in the State of Alaska, adding to the number of jobs and opportunities to our economy.”
