The appointments expand the relationship between Aimbridge and Portman and increase Aimbridge’s presence in the large-format, full-service hotel segment across major US markets.
The Westin Cincinnati is a 456-key operating hotel serving group, corporate, and leisure guests in downtown Cincinnati. It is located on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati, near the city’s commercial, cultural, entertainment, and events destinations.
Portman acquired the property in 2025, its first hotel acquisition, as part of the launch of its value-add hospitality strategy.
The company plans to begin renovating the hotel next year.
Meanwhile, the 700-key Cincinnati Downtown Marriott is a new-build project that is under construction and is expected to form part of the $828m Convention District redevelopment once finished.
Groundbreaking for the Cincinnati Downtown Marriott was held on 21 July 2026.
The hotel will include 60,000ft2 of meeting space and a 17,000ft2 events terrace.
The project secured $540m in financing earlier this year. Aimbridge is an equity partner in the development as well as the planned hotel operator.
Aimbridge Hospitality Full Service Division president Chris Tatum said: “This partnership with Portman reflects exactly the kind of complex, large-scale hospitality asset Aimbridge is built to operate.
“Running an established downtown hotel while preparing to open a landmark development takes a different kind of operational depth, and we are proud Portman trusted us with both.
“We look forward to delivering strong results for The Westin Cincinnati today and to leading the Cincinnati Downtown Marriott into its opening.”
