
IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened a new dual-branded avid Hotels and Candlewood Suites Hotels property in Coralville, Iowa, US.
The opening marks the second in the state and the fourth dual-branded site with Candlewood Suites in the US, following the concept’s introduction in 2021.
Having launched its first hotel in 2018, the avid brand now has 131 properties under development, asserting its position as IHG’s second-largest contributor to system size.
avid Hotels, Atwell Suites and Garner hotels’ vice-president Karen Gilbride said: “avid Hotels consistently drive strong commercial results and guest loyalty – reflected in some of the highest guest satisfaction scores within the IHG portfolio. Its approach is simple, yet effective.

One key initiative for this year is our revamped breakfast offering, delivering more of what our guests want at a reduced operating cost to owners, which we’re excited to roll out at avid hotel Coralville – Iowa City.”
The newly opened 71-room Coralville property is owned by Westcor JD Royal Hospitality and is situated close to the University of Iowa.

In addition to the Coralville property, avid Hotels has been expanding its presence with openings in various locations.
Earlier this year, the avid Hotel Queretaro Centro Sur in Mexico, operated by Inmobiliaria Flecha Amarilla, opened its doors with 118 guest rooms.
This property is located near local attractions such as the Aqueduct of Santiago de Querétaro and the Teatro Metropolitano.
Another 2025 opening includes the 80-room avid hotel Harrisburg NE in the Hershey Area, US, managed by SNP Management, which is close to Hersheypark and Hershey’s Chocolate World.
The avid hotel Victorville in Hesperia marks the brand’s first location in California and is set to open soon under Score Hospitality. It aims to offer guests access to Mojave Narrows Regional Park and the Route 66 Museum.
IHG’s portfolio now boasts more than 6,600 open hotels across 20 brands.
