Choice Hotels International’s upscale brand Cambria Hotels is continuing its US expansion in key markets with the ground-breaking of a new property in New Haven, Connecticut.

KBE Building Corporation is the construction manager of the six-story hotel. It is being developed in partnership with HighSide Development.

Baskervill is the architect, interior designer of the new property, which will be operated by Pyramid Hotel Group.

Located at 20 Dwight Street New Haven, the hotel has 130 well-lit rooms equipped with creative fixtures, luxurious bedding, and spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors.

The property offers indoor and outdoor spaces that can be used for productive work or relaxation, meeting and event spaces and an and advanced fitness centre.

Featuring to-go options and outdoor seating, guests can enjoy dining freshly made food, local craft beer, wine and specialty cocktails onsite.

To reduce interactions between customers and hotel staff, the hotel is providing a text messaging service.

The Cambria Contactless Concierge Service can be used for placing requests for housekeeping and meeting room, to-go food orders, and more.

Choice Hotels upscaled brands senior vice-president Janis Cannon said: “The ground-breaking of the Cambria Hotel New Haven illustrates the tremendous expansion of the brand. So far this year, we have already debuted new hotels in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida; Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Washington, DC.

“We look forward to bringing Cambria to even more of our guests’ favourite destinations this year, including Austin, Texas; Detroit; and Nashville, Tennessee.

“Cambria satisfies guests’ travel curiosities with inspiring design, approachable indulgences and special moments, whether they’re looking to escape for an outdoor adventure, soaking in the sun by the beach or being in the heart of the action downtown.”

The hotel is expected to open in summer 2022.

Cambria Hotels currently operates nearly 60 properties in the US in various cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans and Phoenix. Nearly 80 hotels are included in the pipeline.

Last month, the brand opened Cambria Hotel Orlando Airport in Florida.
