Hotel and student accommodation services provider CampusX has chosen Mews, a cloud-based hospitality platform, to power its portfolio.

CampusX operates nine campuses and nearly 5,500 bed spots, including the two largest campuses in Italy.

Its two largest campuses in Italy, CX Roma Torvergata and CX North of Milan, are set to open in September 2024.

The move towards Mews by replacing its legacy PMS is aimed at supporting CampusX’s rapid expansion into the hybrid hospitality market.

Since implementing Mews, CampusX is said to have experienced a notable uptick in performance, particularly during the off-season.

The flexibility of the new PMS has allowed CampusX to target various guest groups at different times, leading to optimised pricing and enhanced profitability.

The brand is also leveraging Mews Spaces to maximise asset utilisation, a key component of its hybrid model.

CampusX sales and distribution head Sonia Bastiani said: “As CX started growing, we realised just how limiting legacy systems are. Mews is a much better fit for us. We are especially happy with the open APIs, an intuitive interface and the possibility to work with beds as well as rooms.”

With the deployment of Mews, training at CampusX is said to be well structured. The platform developer stated that having an easy-to-use system is also helpful for young employees of the hybrid provider.

The Mews platform offers seamless connectivity to a suite of hybrid hospitality solutions, encompassing areas from business intelligence to housekeeping.

Mews CEO Matt Welle said: “Innovate, scale and stand out – with the right tools and mindset, hospitality success can be as simple as that.

“Our award-winning tech and expertise help ambitious hoteliers like CampusX deliver remarkable experiences to students, digital nomads and community seekers, all while operating efficiently and profitably.”

CampusX has ambitious plans to operate 11 campuses using Mews by 2025 to increase its presence in the Italian market.

In December 2023, Mews deployed its PMS in more than 100 hotels in the Strawberry Hotels portfolio, which includes a range of brands and independent hotels.
