Situated near Omonia Square, the property marks MHV’s first hotel asset in Athens.
The group already operates two Greek hospitality sites, located in Porto Heli and Paros, with the latest transaction forming part of a broader corporate strategy to develop its presence across Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Marriott International-branded hotel launched operations in central Athens in 2022.
Positioned close to Stadiou and Athenas Streets, the site provides pedestrian access to cultural destinations as well as direct metro links connecting to the airport and the wider city.
Guests can also explore locations such as Thissio and Monastiraki.
The property features 200 guest rooms alongside a penthouse suite on the ninth floor, which serves as the brand’s first dual-purpose rooftop event venue and accommodation space.
Additional hotel facilities include an on-site dining venue, bar, meeting rooms, fitness centre, business centre, and a retail convenience outlet.
In a statement, MHV said: “Replacing the traditional check-in desk with a signature bar, welcoming guests with complimentary cocktails, and integrating state-of-the-art technology, playful colours, pop design and vibrant music in the hospitality experience, Moxy Athens City established itself as a favourite accommodation choice for all those seeking to explore Athens from an utterly central and undeniably fun hotel.”
The acquisition integrates the Athenian property into MHV’s wider collection of hotels, resorts, and property developments across Cyprus and Greece, establishing the group’s presence in the Greek capital for domestic and international visitors, the statement added.
