Dubai’s Damac Group has signed a contract with Mandarin Oriental to manage a new resort on a group of private islands in The Maldives.

The Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef, which is currently under construction, is slated to open in 2025.

The contract was signed by the group under its property development business DAMAC Properties.

The 34ha luxury resort will feature 130 stand-alone villas, including 61 overwater villas and 66 beachfront villas, as well as ten branded residences.

Internal size of the villas will range from 100m2 to 600m2, with each featuring private pools and offering beautiful ocean views.

The resort will house seven dining venues, including three speciality restaurants and an exclusive dining venue along with a pool bar.

Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef will also boast indoor and outdoor event spaces for meetings, social gatherings and weddings.

Wellness facilities at the resort will house 12 treatment suites, vitality pools, sauna and steam rooms as well as a beauty salon.

In addition, the property will offer leisure activities including a water sports and dive centre, tennis courts, a kids and teens club, a swimming pool and others.

DAMAC Group chairman and founder Hussain Sajwani said: “The DAMAC brand is synonymous with luxury products and service, and we felt The Maldives was a perfect location for us.

“DAMAC has extended its global footprint outside of the Middle East, from the UK to Canada, and we are thrilled to have now reached The Maldives as well. We look forward to working with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to manage our new resort on this beautiful island.”

Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef spans across three private islands on Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male Atoll.

It is 20-minute speedboat ride from Male’s Velana international airport.

The property will mark DAMAC Group’s debut in the tourist islands.
