Dubai hotels are benefitting from upcoming events to be hosted in the city, the most prominent of which will be the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 and the Dubai Airshow 2023, according to STR.

COP28 is scheduled to be held from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

Dubai is showing its highest December occupancy on the books on Saturday, 2 December (44.2%), and Friday, 1 December (43.7%) – the second and third days of COP28. At the same time in 2022, the metrics were significantly lower at 29.4% and 30.8% respectively.

STR’s account executive for the Middle East and Africa, Kostas Nikolaidis, notes that COP28 coincides with UAE National Day on 2 December, which “will ensure the city is buzzing with activity alongside other events taking place in the busy winter period.”

More than 40% of all hotel rooms are already booked for the first few days of the 2023 COP as well as for New Year’s Eve on 31 December.

The Dubai Airshow will be held from 13-17 November 2023. As of 30 October, occupancy for the event was 59.1% for Thursday, 16 November and 58.3% for Wednesday, 15 November. At the same in 2022, levels for those dates sat at 53.1% and 54.7% respectively.
