European value hotel operator easyHotel has implemented a new property management system (PMS) by Apaleo across its entire business, reported HospitalityNet.

This technological transformation is part of the company’s strategy to open several hotels in the coming years.

It has transitioned from traditional PMS to more adaptable, application programming interface (API) led platforms.

These platforms are said to enable operators to integrate a variety of specialist applications, avoiding the limitations of being tied to a single vendor.

easyHotel has selected the API-first, open hospitality platform offered by Apaleo.

easyHotel COO Louis Poisson said: “Following successful pilots in strategic locations, it has taken easyHotel just seven months to migrate 4,000 rooms onto Apaleo, performing up to three site migrations per week.

“This has already resulted in a better guest experience, happier staff and reduced check-in time, which has dropped from an average of approximately four minutes to under two minutes.”

The low-carbon operator plans to leverage the ‘easy’ brand awareness for European growth targeting expansion in Italy, Spain, and France with potential for ten to 15 new locations.

easyHotel’s existing network comprises more than 40 hotels across 32 cities in 11 European countries.

The company focuses on city centre locations with good transport links and proximity to leisure and business districts.

The company’s portfolio includes new builds, existing hotels, and office conversions, under various ownership models such as freehold, leasehold, or franchises.

It has also introduced a new room design that emits 20% less carbon than its competitors over a 10-year lifecycle.
