Lifestyle and leisure hospitality company Ennismore, in collaboration with independent real estate company Groupe Sebban, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to bring the Mama Shelter brand to Toulon, France.

Scheduled to open its doors in late 2027, the Mama Shelter Toulon hotel will mark the brand’s introduction to the Mediterranean locale.

The MOU was formalised at a ceremony attended by Toulon mayor Josée Massi on 20 March 2025. Mama Shelter founder Jeremie Trigano and Ennismore Brand COO Cedric Gobilliard also attended the event.

The hotel will be situated on Cours Lafayette, a historic district with its market and nearness to cultural landmarks. The property will occupy the Ancien Évêché de Toulon, a historic building currently undergoing a transformation that combines tradition with modern design.

The hotel is set to feature 100 rooms spread over five levels, with some offering private terraces.

Room sizes will vary, accommodating singles, couples, and families, with the largest spaces reaching 32m².

Upon entering, guests will be greeted in a double-height lobby. Central to the hotel’s experience will be a lively restaurant and bar, with seating for more than 150 guests. The establishment will also boast a terrace on Place Paul Conte, showcasing Mama Shelter’s dedication to community integration.

For business travellers and local enterprises, the hotel will provide two seminar rooms. Its proximity to the city centre and harbour positions Mama Shelter Toulon as a future social and cultural hub.

Mama Shelter Ennismore brand chief operating officer Cedric Gobilliard said: “With Mama Shelter Toulon, we will bring a new energy to the city and create a space where locals and travellers can gather, celebrate, and experience the unique Mediterranean lifestyle.

“This project embodies the spirit of Mama, playful, unconventional, and always full of life— while embracing Toulon’s rich history and coastal charm.”

In January 2025, Ennismore announced plans to open over 20 hotels and more than 35 F&B venues globally this year.
