Mama Shelter Medellín will complement Ennismore’s four operating properties in South America, including JO&JOE Medellín and Rio De Janeiro and SLS Puerto Madero.

It has two properties, TRIBE Belo Horizonte and SLS Punta Del Este, in the pipeline.

Ennismore Mama Shelter Brand COO Cedric Gobilliard said: “We’re extremely excited to bring Mama Shelter to such an energetic and iconic city like Medellín. Mama Shelter offers both international travellers and local communities a place to stay, eat and play, and we can’t wait to open our doors and offer the unique experience we are known for.”

In a separate development, Accor partnered with Shanghai Xinguang Technology Development Group to develop a 293-key luxury urban resort, Sofitel Shanghai South.

The property will feature two ballrooms of 1,500m2 and 700m2 sizes, signature restaurants and bars, a lobby lounge, an executive lounge, a fitness centre, spa and pool.

Slated to open in 2025, Sofitel Shanghai South is about 40km from Shanghai downtown and 30km from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

Accor Greater China CEO Gary Rosen said: “We are honoured to partner with Shanghai Xinguang Technology Development Group to bring the modern French elegance of Sofitel to the brilliantly evolving landscape of the Fengxian District, particularly at our privileged address in Zhuanghang Town.”
