The transaction adds a second InterContinental-flagged property to Gencom’s portfolio, following its purchase of the InterContinental New York Times Square in late 2025.

The acquisition expands Gencom’s hospitality assets in Florida.

In December 2025, the company reacquired a controlling stake in the 115-key Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove.

It co-developed the 423-key Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne in the late 1990s, where an overhaul exceeding $100m concluded recently.

Elsewhere in Miami, Gencom is partnering with Hyatt on Miami Riverbridge, a privately backed joint development budgeted at over $1.5bn.

That project plans to replace the Hyatt Regency Miami and the James Knight Center on the Miami River with two hotels, 700 residential apartments, 200,000ft² of convention and event space, and 50,000ft² of public parkland.

At the InterContinental Miami, standard guest accommodations average roughly 405ft² with outlooks over the skyline and Biscayne Bay.

The layout includes 22 suites, spanning from approximately 850ft² to the 2,800ft² Presidential and Royal Suites.

A recent capital works programme modernised the guest room interiors with updated technology, furniture, and wall finishes.

The project refurbished the Club InterContinental Lounge, the outdoor SkyLawn event area, and the pool cabanas.

Targeting commercial meetings, group functions, conventions, and leisure guests, the venue features 35 meeting rooms across more than 90,000ft² of reconfigurable indoor and outdoor event space.

On-site amenities comprise a business centre, the Club InterContinental Lounge, a fitness centre, various dining options, a full-service spa, retail units, and a rooftop swimming pool with private cabanas.
