Hilton is boosting its expansion efforts in India by entering a strategic licensing agreement with hotel management company NILE Hospitality to open 75 Hampton brand properties across the country.
The initial phase of the expansion will see the first Hampton by Hilton hotels open in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Bihar.
The move aims to significantly enhance Hilton’s mid-market offerings within the country, addressing the growing demand from the emerging middle-class population.
The licensing agreement is bolstered by a previous agreement in 2024 to launch 150 Spark by Hilton hotels in partnership with hospitality business Olive by Embassy.
Hilton Asia Pacific president Alan Watts said: “This marks our mid-market moment in India, as significant macroeconomic growth, a rapidly rising middle class and the vast infrastructure development fuel demand for our brands and drive strong trading performance in the country.
“This agreement marks yet another important milestone as Hilton accelerates its growth in India and unlocks a new chapter of expansion in Asia Pacific.”
NILE Hospitality, known for managing a diverse range of international and independent hotel brands, will operate the new Hampton by Hilton hotels in India.
With a growing portfolio of 24 hotels across 14 states, NILE manages brands from Wyndham Hotels, Radisson Hotel Group, and Hyatt Hotels.
NILE Hospitality founder and CEO Vikram Singh Chauhan said: “This partnership represents an extraordinary opportunity for NILE to tap into the immense potential of the country’s growing middle-income segment.
“It is indeed an exciting collaboration, as it provides an opportunity to redefine the midscale accommodation segment and deliver high-quality service and operations that both Hilton and NILE are renowned for.”
Hampton by Hilton occupies the upper midscale segment and complements Hilton’s existing midscale offerings in India. The brand, which encompasses Hampton Inn by Hilton and Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, is the largest in Hilton’s portfolio by the number of hotels.
The brand has been tailored to meet the needs of the Asia Pacific market and has witnessed more than a decade of growth in China. Notable recent openings include properties in Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Suzhou.
In a related development, DoubleTree, another upscale brand under the Hilton umbrella, is set to make its debut in Bhopal, India, by 2027. In collaboration with Sage Group, this venture aims to bolster hospitality offerings in Central India.
