Global hospitality company Hilton has expanded its Tapestry Collection brand portfolio with the addition of The Radical Hotel, a boutique property in the River Arts District of Asheville, North Carolina, US.

This move comes as the property reopens after recovery from Hurricane Helene.

The addition signifies the hotel’s alignment with Hilton’s portfolio of upscale properties under its Tapestry Collection brand, which comprises nearly 160 independent hotels.

The Radical Hotel co-owner Amy Michaelson Kelly said: “After reopening our doors following recovery from Hurricane Helene, we are thrilled to collaborate with Tapestry Collection by Hilton and come back stronger than ever.

“Tapestry Collection is a seamless fit, allowing us to continue giving our guests a unique, local experience with the added reliability and benefits from a renowned global brand.”

The boutique hotel is owned by commercial real estate development company Hatteras Sky and capital partner Somera Capital East, with operations managed by Driftwood Hospitality Management.

Driftwood Capital luxury and lifestyle managing director Alinio Azevedo said: “We are thrilled that The Radical Hotel will join Tapestry Collection by Hilton. This one-of-a-kind, art-inspired property speaks to guests seeking truly unique and immersive experiences.

“At Driftwood, we take pride in managing distinctive hotels, curating exceptional food and beverage offerings, and delivering unmatched hospitality that goes beyond a traditional stay. The Radical Hotel serves as a model property, reflecting DHM’s strategic growth within its portfolio.”

The hotel opened its doors in October 2023 and offers 70 guest rooms and suites, a flagship wood-fire restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a cafe/bar.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand leader Elizabeth Scruggs said: “Tapestry Collection is made up of individual hotels with original stories, and The Radical is no exception.

“Its origin story, art-forward design and elevated food & beverage offerings such as a rooftop bar overlooking Asheville’s River Arts District are exactly the kind of authentic, locally inspired experiences Tapestry aims to deliver.”

While maintaining its independent ownership, The Radical now extends benefits to Hilton Honors members.

Hilton has a portfolio of 24 brands, encompassing more than 8,600 properties and around 1.3 million rooms across 139 countries and territories.

Earlier this year, the company announced the opening of the Sanctity Hotel, further extending the Tapestry Collection brand. This marks a significant development in the hospitality sector of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
