Christie & Co, a specialist business property advisor, has been appointed to manage the sale of the Grade I listed Hintlesham Hall Hotel & Spa in Suffolk, UK.

The property, which dates back to the 14th century, is being offered freehold at a guide price of £7.5m ($9.54m).

Hintlesham Hall is set across 7.8ha of land and features 32 ensuite bedrooms, along with private dining options, corporate rooms, and function and spa facilities.

Additionally, the hotel provides access to the 6,500-yard Par 72 Hintlesham Golf Club, which spans 150 acres of the Suffolk countryside.

In 1983, cookery writer Ruth Watson acquired the hotel from American chef Robert Carrier and carried out renovation and expansion works, elevating the property to a four-star status.

The current proprietors have continued to upgrade the hotel’s facilities and expand the services offered to guests.

Planning approval has been received for a self-contained function suite and listed building consent has been secured for an enhanced spa development behind the Coach House.

Hintlesham Hall Hotel & Spa current owner Has Modi said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which we have been involved with for many years, now is the right time. The business is well positioned with value enhancement opportunities for a new owner.”

Christie & Co local regional director Ed Bellfield said: “Hintlesham Hall Hotel evokes such affection from country house hotel guests and operators. The beautiful setting of the Grade I-listed building offers so much more by way of a range of asset management opportunities to extend and develop the range of services at the property.

“The reputation and success of the business is testament to the continued re-investment and family stewardship over recent decades, combined with its enviable location.”

Earlier this month, Christie & Co and Savills listed the Wyck Hill House Hotel in Gloucestershire, UK, for sale on behalf of undisclosed private owners.
