IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered a new franchise agreement with real estate construction company Senegindia to introduce the Holiday Inn SD City Dakar in Senegal.

Set to launch in 2027, the hotel will feature 150 rooms and is part of IHG’s expansion strategy in West Africa.

Managed by IHG’s hospitality partner Valor Hospitality Partners, the hotel will further IHG’s regional presence.

IHG Hotels & Resorts IMEA managing director Haitham Mattar said: “Bringing Holiday Inn to SD City Dakar with Senegindia SA is an exciting new venture for IHG Hotels & Resorts. We are enthusiastic about the market as it is the capital of a country that perfectly aligns with our strategic growth plans in Africa.

“Senegal is a key destination in West Africa, and with increased government investment in infrastructure and tourism, we see significant opportunities to serve both business and leisure travellers. We look forward to delivering a world-class welcoming experience that aligns with Holiday Inn’s legacy of providing comfortable stays for travellers worldwide.”

The new Holiday Inn property is part of the Diamniadio urban project, aligning with Dakar’s Sustainable Development master plan.

Its strategic location offers proximity to Blaise Diagne International Airport, the Adbou Diouf International Conference Centre, and other key sites, making it an option for both business and leisure travellers.

The hotel will introduce the Open Lobby concept, providing a versatile space for guests to work, relax, or dine.

The Holiday Inn brand currently has 12 hotels across Africa.

Serengidia spokesperson said: “We are proud to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring the renowned Holiday Inn brand to Dakar. This development represents a significant milestone not only for our organisation but also for Senegal’s growing hospitality landscape.

“Our vision has always been to create a modern, connected, and forward-looking urban destination, and with the addition of a globally recognised hotel brand such as Holiday Inn, we are reinforcing that ambition. We look forward to welcoming guests from across the region and beyond to Holiday Inn SD City Dakar in 2027.”

Upon its opening, the Holiday Inn property is set to become part of an extensive global network of more than 1,200 branded hotels and resorts.

Additionally, IHG revealed plans to introduce the InterContinental brand to Cape Town, South Africa, with the signing of an agreement last July.
