Okura Nikko Hotel Management, a subsidiary of Hotel Okura, has revealed plans to open a small luxury hotel in the Japanese city of Kyoto.
Development of the hotel was managed by Mitsubishi Estate. It is slated to open on 20 January 2022.
The hotel’s location, Okazaki district, is also home to several museums and Heian Jingu shrine.
The property will be operated by Okura Nikko Hotel Management.
Featuring a layout of four floors, Hotel Okura Kyoto Okazaki Bettei occupies a total floor space of about 5,500m2.
The hotel has 60 guest rooms including eight suites, each featuring nishijin textiles and traditional Japanese-style shelving supported by pillars, as well as karakami paper art and many more.
With focus on serving overnight stays, the hotel features French restaurant Nouvelle Epoque, a lounge and fitness centre but no banquet hall.
The new property will partner with the “GO ON” project, which was launched by successors and supporters of traditional Kyoto crafts.
As part of this collaboration, the hotel will display original art works by members of the GO ON project team. The art works will feature new interpretations of Kyoto’s traditions.
The items have been created specifically for the Hotel Okura Kyoto Okazaki Bettei.
Earlier this month, Hotel Okura announced that it will open Hotel Okura Manila, a 190-room luxury hotel, on 28 December.
In August, the company revealed plans to open Hotel Okura Shanghai Sheshan in Sheshan, Songjiang District in Shanghai city, China.
Okura Nikko Hotel Management operates properties under three hotel groups, namely Okura Hotels & Resorts, Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City.
As of 26 November 2021, it has a total of 52 properties in Japan and 25 abroad.
