Hyatt Hotels has announced the opening of 225-room Thompson Washington D.C., which is the first property of Thompson Hotels brand in the US capital.

The 11-storey hotel, which is located in the emerging Navy Yard neighbourhood, features modern guestrooms and suites besides restaurant and bar concepts by Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG).

It is located against the backdrop of the city’s waterfront neighbourhood, and is less than one mile from Capitol Hill and other major D.C. monuments and museums.

Designed as a lifestyle hotel, its architecture was done by New York-based Studios Architecture and interiors by Parts and Labor Design.

It features textured façade and industrial-inspired large windows.

The hotel’s general manager Sherry Abedi said: “We are proud to introduce the sophisticated and evocative Thompson Washington D.C. to the nation’s capital.

The standout features of the hotel include signature restaurant Maialino Mare from USHG, The Thompson Bar Room, 7,000ft2 of indoor and outdoor function space, and Anchovy Social rooftop bar.

Earlier this week, Hyatt Hotels opened 77-room Hyatt Regency Thrissur hotel in the Indian state of Kerala.

This hotel joins over 195 hotels under the brand, including 12 locations across India.
