Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has teamed up with CG Hospitality, aiming to expand its portfolio to 25 hotels in India by 2025.

The 25 hotels include 11 operating hotels and an additional 14 hotels that will be launched under the ‘Ekyam’ platform.

Ekyam will be headed by IHCL commercial vice president Ram Maheshwari.

It will primarily target opportunities in regions known for adventure and wildlife towards a portfolio of 25 hotels encompassing 2,500 rooms within the next two years.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “IHCL has a long-standing association with CG Hospitality, a member of the renowned CG Corp Global for over two decades. We are delighted to announce that the next phase of this partnership will pursue accelerated growth in the Indian Subcontinent.

“This collaboration under the platform – Ekyam, will explore opportunities to manage hotels across regions around the Himalayas, as well as the Indian Ocean, and strengthen the wildlife sector.”

The partnership of CG Hospitality and Tata Group’s IHCL spans more than 20 years, covering various properties worldwide.

These include Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa in the Maldives, Taj Samudra in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai, and Taj Safaris in India and Nepal.

CG Hospitality managing director Rahul Chaudhary said: “The platform will commence with the current portfolio of 11 operating hotels. CG Hospitality has invested over Rs12.5bn ($149.7m) in the operational and upcoming hotels thus far and is committed to onboard 14 more hotels under this partnership.”

Last month, IHCL signed a new Taj-branded resort in Kollam, Kerala.

This project is set on a 13-acre site with nearly 600ft of beachfront along Thirumullavaram Beach and will feature 205 rooms with Arabian Sea views.

Earlier this year, IHCL introduced a new SeleQtions branded property, Scenic Munnar – IHCL SeleQtions, in Munnar, Kerala, India.
