
The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has expanded its presence in Indian state of Karnataka with the introduction of the Gateway Coorg, a new property set amidst the state’s coffee plantations.
This addition bolsters IHCL’s multi-brand portfolio in the region which often referred to as the ‘Scotland of India’.
IHCL New Businesses and Hotel Openings executive vice president Deepika Rao said: “Coorg has fast emerged as one of India’s sought-after leisure and wellness destinations.
“Opening of Gateway Coorg captures this growing demand and strengthens IHCL’s multi-brand presence in the region.”
The Gateway Coorg, surrounded by trails and rainforests, offers 55 rooms and suites.
Amenities available at the property include Ghat’s Café, which serves regional and global cuisine, Coorg Cellar, and the Coffee Lounge for artisanal beverages. The menu highlights traditional Kodava cuisine and modern favourites.

Gateway Coorg general manager R Subbaiah Pandian said: “Gateway Coorg is thoughtfully designed to provide a deep sense of connection with nature and local culture. We look forward to welcoming guests to this quiet escape in the lap of nature.”
With the opening of Gateway Coorg, IHCL now operates 26 hotels in Karnataka, including 13 under development.
IHCL’s portfolio, which encompasses brands such as Taj, Claridges Collection, SeleQtions, Tree of Life, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger, includes 380 hotels globally, with 137 under development.
Earlier this year, IHCL also announced a partnership with Abhijit Realtors and Infraventures to open the Gateway Pench resort in Madhya Pradesh, India, and revealed signing of a new Gateway hotel in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, as part of a conversion project to tap into the burgeoning tourism market.
