Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed an agreement to develop a new Gateway hotel in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu.
To be known as Gateway Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, the greenfield property will comprise 176 rooms with an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant and a bar.

The property’s recreational and wellness facilities will include a swimming pool, gym and a health club or spa.
For events, the property is being designed with more than 5,000ft² of banquet space, as well as meeting rooms and pre-function areas.
It will also have outdoor lawns, intended to host weddings, social functions and corporate gatherings.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “As travel demand continues to grow beyond metros and Tier 1 cities, destinations such as Trichy are emerging as significant markets, supported by a diverse mix of business, education and religious travel.
“With its central location and access to the region’s most revered sites, this signing reinforces IHCL’s commitment to expanding its footprint in high-growth Tier 2 cities while strengthening our spiritual circuit in South India.”
Hospitality development company Try Alam Hotels partnered with IHCL to develop the hotel in Tiruchirappalli.

With this project, IHCL’s portfolio in Tamil Nadu will total 33 hotels, including 14 properties currently under development.
Earlier this month, IHCL launched Vivanta Gurugram in Sector 95A.
