IHG Hotels & Resorts and Avila have entered into an agreement to launch ANA Crowne Plaza Akita in December this year in Japan’s Akita prefecture.
Located at a 35-minute drive from Akita Airport, the 187-key hotel will be the first international premium hotel brand in the Akita region.
The renovated and rebranded hotel boasts four restaurants, a gymnasium, a sauna, a Japanese style bath house.
Additionally, it will feature seven banquet facilities, which includes the Tohoku region’s largest banquet hall with an accommodation capacity of 2,000 people.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Australasia, Japan & Pacific development VP Abhijay Sandilya said: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement with Avila Co., Ltd and look forward to building a great partnership.
“We are very excited that Akita City will be home to the world-class ANA Crowne Plaza brand for the first time. We are confident that this great hotel with its convenient location just a few steps away from JR Akita Station, along with the many prominent tourist attractions nearby, will attract both business and leisure guests from Japan and around the world, once the borders reopen.”
ANA Crowne Plaza Akita is the second signing by IHG in Japan this year.
Last month, the hospitality group signed a conversion deal with Iwate Hotel & Resort to open or refurbish three hotels under the ANA Crowne Plaza, ANA Holiday Inn, and ANA InterContinental brands in December.
In Japan, IHG Hotels & Resorts operates as IHGANA, a joint venture with ANA, and operates 19 ANA Crowne Plaza hotels across the country.
