Multinational hospitality chain IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to launch its biggest hotel brand Holiday Inn Express in Saudi Arabia.

The company has entered a management agreement with Al Woroud Real Estate to open a new-build Holiday Inn Express hotel near King Fahd Road in the central Olaya district, Riyadh.

Planned to be opened in 2026, the Holiday Inn Express Riyadh hotel will be accessible from King Khalid International Airport.

The agreement will bolster IHG’s mainstream offering in Riyadh and expand its portfolio in the country in line with Saudi Vision 2030 strategy for tourism.

IHG Hotels and Resorts India, Middle East and Africa managing director Haitham Mattar said: “The government has been progressively investing in the tourism sector and will bring ever more diverse guest segments to the market, across business, leisure and spiritual tourism.

“Through the range of stay experiences offered by our brand portfolio, including Holiday Inn Express, we can provide guest experiences to suit the needs of all visitors coming to the Kingdom.

The brand is focused on smart travellers across the business, leisure and meeting sectors. The hotel will cater to international and Saudi guests of leisure and business travel.

With a bold and modern next-generation design, the Holiday Inn Express Riyadh will offer 200 rooms which will include amenities such as smart TVs, high-speed WiFi and power showers.

Guests will be provided with a complimentary ‘Express Start Breakfast’ at the hotel. Facilities will also include two meeting rooms, an on-site gym and a swimming pool.

The Holiday Inn Express brand has a portfolio of more than 3,000 hotels worldwide.

IHG currently operates 37 properties across its Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, voco and Staybridge Suites brands in Saudi Arabia. The company’s pipeline includes 31 new hotels in the coming three to five years.
