The hotel sits near Lincoln Park, close to Avenida Presidente Masaryk, the Auditorio Nacional, Chapultepec Castle and the Archaeological Museum.

Kimpton El Castelar occupies the Roel Building, an apartment block that opened in 1940 and was designed by architect Francisco J Serrano during Mexico’s Art Nouveau period.

The property includes several outdoor terraces integrated into the building’s exterior, as well as a rooftop pool.

Guest rooms feature terracotta-toned finishes, metals, and natural stone, alongside wood floors and patterned cement tiles that reference traditional Mexican ceramics.

Kimpton Castelar general manager Alejandro Gallegos said: “Kimpton Castelar is an authentic addition to the spirit of Mexico City. Our intention is for guests to use the hotel as their home base as they discover the hidden treasures of the trendy Polanquito neighbourhood.”

Amenities also include complimentary bikes, yoga mats in each room, and pet-friendly accommodation at no extra charge.

IHG Hotels & Resorts senior vice-president and luxury and lifestyle managing director Leanne Harwood said: “As Kimpton hotels continue to grow in our Mexico and Latin American region, we carry a true sense of excitement with us; our goal with each of our hotel openings is to thoughtfully integrate into the community, and I’m confident Kimpton El Castelar will be locally loved and inspire enchantment for travellers across the world.”
