IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered a partnership with Sydney-based developer Felix Capital to launch the first voco hotel on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

The voco Maroochydore hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2028, will be part of a mixed-use development on Ocean Street.

It is aimed to meet the region’s demand for upscale accommodation, especially in light of the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The 153-key voco Maroochydore will enhance the local entertainment and dining scene, offering water views, locally inspired guestrooms, and a podium-level outdoor pool, spa, and sauna.

The hotel offers a 140-seat speciality restaurant and a 65-seat lobby bar with direct access to Ocean Street. More than 510m² of modern conference and event spaces, including a ballroom for 250 people, will cater to corporate and private events.

The development will also feature nine residences above the hotel, which will not be part of the hotel’s operations.

The voco brand is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Premium collection, which has expanded to 18 countries since its inception in 2018.

This project marks the second collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Felix Capital, following the Holiday Inn & Suites Caloundra announcement in April 2024, expected to open in 2030.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Australasia & Pacific director of development Cameron Burke said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the Sunshine Coast. The region desperately needs new accommodation products, and hotel developments like voco Maroochydore will play a vital role in stimulating the local economy.

“We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Felix Capital, and wholly support their vision to vitalise the Sunshine Coast ahead of its regional showcase to the world as part of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Additionally, IHG has recently signed a management agreement with Peachery LLP to launch Holiday Inn Ujjain, scheduled to open in 2028.
