IHG Hotels and Resorts has entered a management agreement with Akam Al Rajhi to launch the MEA region’s first voco resort in Egypt.

Akam Al Rajhi is a joint venture of real estate companies AkamAlRajhi and Al Rajhi Saudi groups.

As part of the company’s growth plan, IHG intends to broaden its MEA presence and diversify its portfolio.

The 300-room voco North Coast, scheduled to open in December 2026, will feature low-rise structures, chalets and townhouses with direct access to the beachfront.

This resort will feature natural landscapes, artificial lakes, a spa, a swimming pool, a health club, a shopping mall, a waterpark, running and biking tracks and various dining options. It will also boast 1,375m² meeting and event areas.

The resort will be 23km from Egypt’s new Al Alamein Airport and minutes away from Alexandria Matrouh.

Currently, IHG runs seven hotels in Egypt across InterContinental, Staybridge Suites, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands.

Akam Al Rajhi Developments chairman Essam Mansour said: “We are pleased to partner with the IHG Hotels and Resorts Group, to develop the new Voco resort in the company’s Dose project in the northwest coast in the distinctive and charming Ras El-Hikma area.

“It is one of the most important investment areas on Egypt’s tourist map during the current and future period, given the attractiveness of this charming region, which has the third-best beach in the world.”
