Multinational hospitality company IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has combined with connectivity technology solutions provider 5G to create a long-term digital revenue stream by connecting hotel rooftops with 5G networks.
The companies reach an agreement that will develop the rooftop connectivity revenue stream for owners of more than 3,800 IHG-branded hotels in the US.
5G’s partnership with IHG and the IHG Owners Association hopes to provide a new marketplace opportunity to hotel owners.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Americas Operations vice president Colin Macdonald said: “For IHG-branded hotel owners, this agreement represents a unique opportunity to gain a revenue stream by leveraging unused space on a property’s rooftop without added owner costs.
“One advantage from this collaboration is that 5G can market to multiple wireless carriers on an owner’s behalf for increased revenue potential.”
5G is working with portfolio managers and major carriers in the country to accelerate the deployment and expansion of 5G connectivity.
