
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed two new properties on the island of Crete, Greece, marking the debut of its Vignette Collection and Kimpton brands in the country.
The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection and Kimpton La Mer Crete, both owned by Gelasakis Group, are set to open in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Gelasakis Group travel and hospitality CEO Antonis Gelasakis CEO said: “We believe IHG’s existing in-market experience and global enterprise will be invaluable in helping to drive performance and deliver high returns across both properties.”
Vignette Collection property is located in Chania city centre, near the port and market.
The hotel will feature 39 guest rooms and offer several dining options, encompassing a rooftop bar and an à la carte restaurant.
Guests will also have access to a wellness centre and a rooftop heated plunge pool.

By GlobalDataSituated beachfront between Chania and historic Rethymno, Kimpton La Mer Crete will provide a beach resort experience.
A 20 minutes from Chania Airport, the hotel will offer 76 guest rooms, two unique restaurant options, and a spa centre with a seaside indoor pool.
The property will also grant guests direct access to the Georgioupolis beach, with views of the Gulf of Chania.
Founded in 1981 by Bill Kimpton, the Kimpton brand is known for its lifestyle luxury offerings.
These new hotels join IHG’s expanding luxury and lifestyle portfolio, which now includes six brands, over 530 open hotels, and a pipeline exceeding 370 properties.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe development vice president Willemijn Geels said: “Chania is emerging as one of the most sought-after Greek destinations for high-end travellers and the addition of Vignette Collection and Kimpton to our existing InterContinental properties and pipeline Six Senses Megalonisos in Greece, will further cement our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the country.
“Our luxury and lifestyle portfolio has grown significantly in recent years, now totalling over 900 open and pipeline hotels globally, all of which are underpinned by our powerful global enterprise systems.”
With these openings, IHG will have five properties in Greece. In July 2024, IHG’s InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand launched its first property, the InterContinental Crete.
