Jabal Omar Development Company has obtained a licence from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism to operate the second tower of Jabal Omar Jumeirah Hotel in Makkah.

The milestone, which marks a key step in the expansion of luxury hospitality in the region, was announced by Jabal Omar in a stock market filing on 21 January.

The second tower of the Jabal Omar Jumeirah Hotel features 244 luxurious rooms and suites.

It is equipped with a range of amenities, including a restaurant, cafe, prayer hall, meeting rooms, business centre service, as well as a fitness centre.

The Jabal Omar Jumeirah Hotel comprises four towers, each with 19 hotel floors, and is situated adjacent to the Holy Mosque in Makkah, a city in western Saudi Arabia.

The company said that it is in the process of handing over the remaining two towers to the operator and is working to fulfil the necessary requirements to obtain operational permits from the relevant authorities.

The operation of the hotel’s new tower is further expected to positively influence the company’s revenues in the fiscal 2024, Jabal Omar added.

The first tower, which includes 263 rooms and suites, was given a licence by the Ministry of Tourism on 28 August 2023.

At the first tower, guests can avail a wide range of amenities, including a fitness centre, a restaurant, a cafe, meeting rooms, a business centre service and a prayer hall.

Opening of the first tower aligns with the company’s strategic transformation plan, supporting the country’s Vision 2030 to elevate the tourism and hospitality sector’s quality.

According to a report by Zawya, the Jabal Omar master plan spans over 235,000m² of land and has a built-up area exceeding 2.5 million square metres.

The report claimed that the plan includes a total of 46 towers featuring hospitality, commercial, and residential spaces.

Jabal Omar Development Company, a real estate developer listed on the Saudi Tadawul Stock Exchange, is at the forefront of the Jabal Omar project, a mixed-use mega-development within walking distance of The Grand Mosque of Makkah.

In 2021, Jabal Omar secured $427m credit facilities for the Jabal Omar project.
